"Wingin' it" in Buffalo

No visit to New York State's "Niagara Frontier" would be complete without a visit to Frank & Teressa's Anchor Bar in Downtown Buffalo. The Anchor Bar's claim to fame is that it is the birthplace of "chicken wings"...better known as "buffalo wings". Teressa Bellissimo is credited with the creation of the dish back in 1964 when she deep-fried some wings and covered them in a vinegar-based chili and tomato sauce. She then served them with blue cheese dressing as an hors d'oeuvres at the bar. Initially, they were offered for free. But now they will "run" you $10 for ten wings, $14 for twenty wings and $32 for a "bucket" of fifty.
